Memorial Weekend

Our long weekend was mostly spent relaxing at home. We had already seen all the places we want to see in Iceland except for Glacier Bay and we will be visiting there on our way to the ferry. But it is always nice to spend some time at home. I spent a lot of my time watching my DVDs. We also started going threw some stuff and getting rid of things we don't need anymore.

Still no news on my medical clearance...so no orders or a pack out date. But we aren't worried. Everything will work out.

My brother moved into his new house this week. I am so excited for him!

Weekend BBQ

Yesterday our friends had a small BBQ at there house. It was the first time we have grilled since we have lived in Iceland because we got rid of our charcoal grill before leaving Turkey because we were told you weren't able to have grills on your decks. But to find out you can have gas grills and still everyone who owns a charcoal grill still uses there, so it was a bummer we got rid of ours. The BBQ was over at our friends house Lindsey and Steve. They grilled up chicken for us. It was so good! Here is a picture of Steve and David.
Here is David and his little buddy Aiden!
The Slaters were also invited over to the BBQ. They are the family who live in the same building as us.
David helping Aiden take off his shoes so he can relax on the couch.
Lindsey cooking dinner - she made a great dinner for us!
Cute picture of David!

Girls Night

Last night I went out with a few of my girlfriends to dinner. My friend Lee set it up because she wanted us to have one last girls night since we will all be leaving in the next few weeks. We went to Kaffi Duus, it is a pretty popular restuarant in Keflavik for people on base to go to. They even have there menu written in Icelandic and English. There was just 5 of us who went...Misty, Lee, Erica, Jessica and Me. My food was really good, I got the chicken pasta. And everyone elses food looked really good too.

Today David is going to hike up to some waterfall with Blue and Bailey. They all have the day off today.

I found out from some customer that my store will be closing on June 3rd. I had no idea. But my boss has been out for so long I haven't seen her to be able to get all the details. So I suppose my last week of work I will be packing up the store.

Almost Done

After today my mom and I will only have 10 more days left of work! Yippy!! We both get off of work on June 9th. She will be off for the summer and I will be done here for good. I am so excited about that. Once I leave here if I have to make one more brass engraving I might I have to scream! That was definitly the worst part of my job. I didn't mind having to make one every once in awhile, but I have made so many since the base closed it has gotten to be over whelming some days.

Feeling a little better each day, but I still look like a car hit me because I haven't been wearing eye make-up and I have to wear my glasses. David has been taking good care of me though. He has been making dinner every night and he brought a sweater up to my work today because I was cold.

Still waiting on David's orders so we can get a pack out date. So right now we just wait.

DyDy....I hope you have a great time camping!

Back To Work

Back to work today, feeling better and looking a little better then yesterday. After going to the doctors I found out I didn't have Pink Eye, I just have been so stuffed up this past week that my stuffiness had no where to go but up into my eyes...Pretty Gross...I know! My doctor gave me some eyedrops, something for my noise and some pills. So hopefully I start to feel better soon.

Of course missing one day of work means I am super busy today. I can't believe how fast my day is going by.

Home Sick

I didn't sleep at all last night because both of my eyes kept watering so bad. Finally I had to just go and get a wet towel and keep that over my eyes to help with the pain and the watering. That also helped me get a hour of sleep this morning. But this morning my eyes were so red and so gross looking I just had to call in sick to work. I have a doctors appointment this afternoon to find out if it is Pink Eye or some sort of infection. Hopefully they will give me eye drops either way.

Yesterday, my old boss Cara from Turkey emailed me and told me that her Husband got force shaped out of the military. Meaning they got rid of him because there was to many people in that job field. They force shaped out 80%. So they will be getting out in July, but she told me that they will be moving to Minnesota. How exciting that will be to be able to see her again. Funny how everything works.

Wedding Day

Today is my cousin Justin's wedding. I really wish I could have been home to see him and Cyndy get married. I am so happy for them! But with David in the military and being stationed overseas we both know there will be important events we will miss out on. It is just apart of our life right now. The next 3 years should go by fast because we have so much to look forward to and then we wont have to worry about missing out on any holidays or special events.

Congratulations to Justin and Cyndy! Love you both!

Work BBQ

When I got to work this morning I was informed that there was a work BBQ going on this afternoon. They were having it for the whole MWR department and so that included me in the Galleria. Basically everyone who works for MWR speaks Icelandic, so I knew going there I wasn't going to understand anyone, but ofcourse I went. I went over with the people in my building, ofcourse most the time they spoke Icelandic so I had no idea what the heck they were talking about. Made me wish I had learned more of the Icelandic language software we had bought when we got here. But there language is so hard to pick up, that only lasted about a month until I gave it up. The BBQ wasn't all bad...it got me out of work for a hour or so....love getting paid for not being at work! And the food was really good.

Packages

I love getting mail! Nothing ever exciting comes in the mail for me. It is always banking statements and things for David. He gets way more mail then me, but ofcourse he always says I wouldn't want the mail he gets. It is just boring stuff. So anyways yesterday was a great mail day for me. I got two packages in the mail! Well, one David and I had to share...that one was from my Grandma. That package had everything in it...ofcourse treats, body butter for me...I love that stuff, magazines and some other food. She always packs here packages plump full. My other package was from my friend Andrea. She sent me her seasons of Sex and the City to borrow. Ever since I saw the first season of the show I have been wanting to know want happens in the rest of the seasons. I already got started on season 2 last night and I am sure I will get threw all the seasons pretty fast.

Felling a lot better today, so that is good. I would hate to be sick over the weekend.

No Orders

Well David still hasn't gotten his orders, that means we still aren't able to get a pack out date. And all the May pack out dates have been filled, so hopefully we will be able to get an early June pack out or who knows may be we will be gone before all of our stuff. I doubt that would ever happen, they seem to be working hard to get everyone packed out before they leave.

My boss was going to keep the shop open until the middle of July, but now plans on closing it when I leave because she said it would be to hard to keep open by herself.

David and I were both up all night because of our throats. I wish I had called in sick, just to take a day to feel better. But sometimes it just seems like extra work to call in.

The weather has been gloomy the last few days. I just want to be at home watching a movie and drinking a cup of tea!

The Seasons Over

The season finally of Survivor was on last night. That is one of our favorite shows. We started to watch it when we got to Turkey so about 2 and some years ago, but they have had about 5 seasons since then. That show gets so addicting. We always have had Friday night Survivor. We would go to some ones house and watch it. In Turkey everyone would come to our house. Here we would mostly go over to our neighbors house. It was basically just assumed we would be together for the show. But now the seasons over and we are all leaving...kind of sad. So hopefully in Germany we will find some other people who love Survivor too!

Doctors!

Before work I went to my medical clearance appointment. I am not even sure why they have these appointments, they are pretty much pointless. They never have my records. So I could go in there and tell them anything and they would believe me. I could tell them I have only had one seizure or twenty. I tell them how much meds I should be taking everyday...they just write my prescription. I haven't seen a neurologist since we have been in the military and I should be seeing one every 6 months to a year to make sure the meds are still working. And hopefully I can go to lower dose sometime soon. But the good news is Germanys hospitals are great, so I am really looking forward to going there. They actually will have someone who specializes in seizures and hopefully knows that the reason they put me on Topamax is because I have seizures, not because I get really bad headaches.

David and I both hurt our backs. David hurt his messing around with one of his friends yesterday at band practise. And me...who knows how I hurt mine. I guess I just moved it funny.

Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish my mom a very special Mother's Day today! I want to thank-you for everything you have done for me. You are the best mom ever! I can't wait until I can see you in August! I love and miss you so much!

Ofcourse, Happy Mother's Day to all the other mom's I know! I am thinking of you all today!

We love and miss you!!!!

David's First Gig

David and his band (Factotum) finally had there first gig Friday night. They just played 4 songs in between the main band's break. It was really exciting to see them play because I had never gotten to hear them preform before. They did so good!!

They played at the teen center on base and the kids really seemed to enjoy them a lot more then the other band. Factotum was playing music the kids new and liked. The other band was pretty much putting them to sleep. They were playing music they probably had never heard. I am sure the kids wished Factotum could play longer.

Here are some pictures of them playing...Enjoy!!
Factotum....David, Shults, Bailey, Kirn and Nate

Dentist Visit

Went to the dentist at 7:30 this morning for my over seas dental clearance. Everytime you go to a new over seas base you have to get dental clearance. There is only one dentist on base seeing everyone so you just have to walk in and wait. We waited for about a hour and half before he saw me. He just looks at your teeth for a few minutes and signs a paper and says you are good to go.

Before I saw the dentist, his assistant was looking at my x-rays and he asked me if I have ever broken my jaw. I told him I had a really bad jaw. I guess at our next base I should get that checked out because it has been bothering me and cracking a lot more.

Still have to get in for my medical clearance, shouldn't be a problem to be cleared, but to get the appointment another story. I tried to make an appointment the other day, but the lady answering the phone said I had to drop off my paperwork before I could make the appointment, so David brought my paperwork over there and the guy working said no you have to call to make the appointment. This time David is going to call and try to make the appointment for me.

It is raining today...no more nice days in site for us.

Looking For Sea Shells

Since the weather was so BEAUTIFUL yesterday my friend called me and wanted to know if I wanted to go to the beach with her and her kids while our husbands did the weekly "Icebreaker" show. I gladly agreed because I had been stuck at work all day and I had been wanting to enjoy this nice weather. Granted this is not the typical beach, no white sand, no swimming and ofcourse no tanning. There is rocks everywhere and the sand is black, but I guess that is pretty neat to see. While there we just spent our time just looking for sea shells and enjoying the weather. There were hundreds of sea shells everywhere. I took some pictures, but I still have to load them up...so expect them soon.

Yesterday driving home from work there were so many kids out playing, I didn't even know that there were that many kids on this base...usually it is just a ghost town. This place would be a 100 times better if the weather was like this everyday, you would actually be able to go out and enjoy the places here.

Finally got to hear a little of David's band the other day. He record a part of there practise on Sunday. They are good...I was impressed! It is to bad they wont be able to be a band for much longer.

Miss you all...XOXO

Our Date Is Set

Finally I have some news to share about when we will be leaving Iceland. David booked our ferry yesterday and we will be leaving on the 15th of June. Actually our journey across Iceland will start on the 14th because it will takes us 2 days to get to the ferry. When David booked the ferry he was also able to book a hotel for us, so we don't have to worry about finding a hotel to stay in. We are both really looking forward to moving to Germany and I am sure this next month is just going to fly by. We are planning on our household goods to be picked up at the end of this month.

The weather here has been so nice...this is the nicest I have ever seen it here. Tomorrow it is suppose to be 53 degrees and no WIND! That is crazy warm for us!

Spring Cleaning

I finally watched "Walk the Line" last night and was I ever glad we rented it. When David went to see it when it first came out, but I didn't want to go with because I thought it was going to be stupid, but it was really a great movie. If you haven't seen it you must see it.

Today I have pretty much been cleaning all day. I wanted to get all of it out of the way so I don't have much to do during the week. Also, with moving soon I went to start organizing some things to make it easier on myself. And I haven't been sleeping very well at night so hopefully all this work will tire me out. It is also makes it hard to fall asleep when it is still light out... your body gets so confused.

Another beautiful day here....I am guessing probably only in the high 40's though. Shows what a beautiful day is to us. As long as there is no wind, it is a perfect day!

Well, back to cleaning...miss you all!

Beautiful Day

What a beautiful day we had! It was so nice out today I didn't even need to wear a jacket. David was able to go skateboarding and ride his bike around base for awhile. He was excited to get outside. I had my pottery class and a babyshower to go today, so I wasn't able to enjoy the nice weather as much as David did today. David also went to some beach with Blue and his son while I was at the babyshower. The babyshower was for Blue's wife Jessica and a girl David work's with Erica.

My pottery class didn't go so well today. I tried to sculpt some sort of bowl, but it just fell apart.

Last night, we went over to the Bluethmann's for game night...it's always fun to get out and do something on a Friday night.

Talked to my parents today and looks like John will be moving into his house sometime this week. I am so excited for him!

Still no news on the exact date when we will be leaving Iceland, but it still looks like we will be leaving at the end of June. And expect us home for a visit sometime in August!!

Hair Cut

I had my appointment yesterday to get my hair cut when I got off work. I guess my hair turned out all right for now. They basically just go crazy with the scizzors, so you don't know what you are going to get. And I am sure the front of my hair is longer then the back. But my hair needed a cut so bad, this is better then what I had before.

But I must say the best part of the whole evening was when David picked me up and said "I really like the new COLOR." I was like I just got it cut. Well, atleast he tried...usually he doesn't say anything when I get my hair done.

Well, I have another really busy work day ahead of me, so I must be going....

Miss you all!

Dishing

For some reason Blogger wouldn't let me write and put a picture on the same post, so that is why this post is coming in two.

Well, this is my most recent piece I made in ceramics...a deviled egg tray. It turned out pretty good, I guess. The paint lines aren't that straight, but most of the time there will be eggs covering up those mistakes anyways. Now David just has to make deviled eggs so I can use my tray.

Tired Today

Oh I have had such a busy work day, I haven't stopped working since I got here at 11. I guess I would rather be doing something then sitting here for 7 hours and starring at the computer. I swear the last week or so I haven't done anything but search the web and there is only so much you can look at on the computer. The only reason now I am not doing work is because I decided to give myself a little break to write in my blog, I know I have been horriable at keeping it updated lately.

Ofcourse I have no news to share about when we are leaving this place. We still don't have our orders. I am sure it wont be for a few weeks or so. I am just hoping we get our pack out date soon after we get our orders, so we get our stuff soon after we arrive in Germany. It is so hard living with out anything. Ofcourse we plan to pack our Jeep pack full when we take the ferry over. That should be an adventure in itself. But it will be nice to be able to see all the places we never got to see while we were here.

Tomorrow I finally get to get my hair cut after I get off work...Yippy! My hair is so gross right now and it doesn't help that I dyed it myself twice in two days!

Usually I will stay after work today and do ceramics but we will have to see how I feel. I am so tired after today.

Miss you all...

Happy May Day!

Where does the time go? I can't believe it is already May! My weekend went by so fast. I only wish my weekdays would go by that fast. Friday night we went out for dinner, nothing to fancy it was just a restuarant on base. But David and I both had steak...it was really good. It is always nice to go out for dinner and not having to worry about cleaning up, you can just relax.

I finally went spinning Saturday morning. It felt so good to work out again. It had been so long since I had went. I don't know why I had been putting it off for so long. I love going, it is a fun work out class. After that class I had my pottery class. I really didn't get much accomplished this week around. I thought I was doing so good, but then I would look around and see everyone was making these bowls that were a foot tall and actually making curvy looking vases and all I had is this 2 inch tall tea cup. Oh well...next week I am suppose to try to start sculpting, so we will see how that turns out.

We also went to the grocery store on Saturday and that was a sad site! You would think they would still stock the shelves with some food, since we still need food and there still is tons of people here, but no! There is nothing there! I am surprised we were able to get any of the foods we liked. It is very depressing and more depressing that they keep getting in all these nice plants.

That evening we went over to our friends house and played tons of board games. We also got to hear a little about there trip they just took to Paris!

On Sunday ofcourse David had band practise. I picked up a little while he was gone. I also called home and talked to my mom. Got to hear all about the bridal shower my grandma threw for Cyndy. I guess it was Beautiful! It is hard being away because I am missing so much. And also John went to prom on Saturday night with his girlfriend Megan. I bet they both looked sooo Cute!

Also, I want to wish Linda a Happy Birthday! I hope you have a Wonderful Day!

Miss you all! XOXO
